Who We Are and What We Do

STAND Learning operates an online learning community on the Mighty Networks platform, serving two primary audiences:

  1. Educators and education solopreneurs seeking to improve their teaching skills and build programs

  2. Adult lifelong learners (18+) who want to become educated, empowered, and engaged in their personal, economic, and civic lives


We focus on personal transformation through synchronous, small-group learning experiences including workshops, Autonomous Learning Communities (ALCs), events, and The Lyceum programming.

Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Name: We require real names to build authentic learning communities

  • Email address: For communication, platform access, and newsletter delivery

  • Profile information: Voluntary details you choose to share with the community

  • Payment information: Processed securely through third-party payment processors; we do not store financial data

 

Learning and Assessment Data

  • Intake surveys: Baseline information about your goals, interests, and questions for specific programs

  • 360-degree assessments: Self-assessments, peer feedback, and mentor evaluations measuring your growth

  • Workshop participation: Attendance, engagement metrics, and completion status

  • Community contributions: Posts, comments, and discussions in forums and ALCs

  • Work products: Reports, projects, and creative works you create through our programs

 

Technical Information

  • Platform usage: How you navigate and use our Mighty Networks community

  • Device and browser information: For technical support and platform optimization

  • Communications: Records of your interactions with our support team and mentors
     

Newsletter and Marketing Data

  • Subscription preferences: Which of our newsletters you receive

  • Engagement metrics: Open rates, click-through rates (aggregated, not individual tracking)

Real Names Policy

We require members to use their real names and identities because:​

Your control: You can choose how much additional personal information to share in your profile and can update or remove this information at any time.

Sharing and Disclosure

Within the STAND Community

  • Forum discussions: Your posts and comments are visible to other community members

  • Workshop groups: Your participation and growth are shared with your small group and mentors

  • Work products: You may choose to submit work for publication in our newsletters or community showcase

  • Assessment feedback: Peer and mentor feedback is shared as part of the 360-degree assessment process

 

With Educational Partners

  • We may share limited, non-identifying information with our educational partners and certified mentors to:

  • Deliver workshops and specialized programs

  • Provide additional learning opportunities and resources

  • Facilitate connections with relevant professional or civic organizations

 

Partner requirements: All partners must agree to use your data only for educational purposes and to delete it when no longer needed for those purposes.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or to ensure the safety of our community members.

 

What We Don't Do

  • We don't sell your data to advertisers or data brokers

  • We don't use your data for unrelated commercial purposes

  • We don't share your individual assessment results without your explicit consent

  • We don't retain your data longer than necessary for educational purposes

Your Data Rights and Controls

Access and Portability

  • View all data we have about you through your profile dashboard

  • Download your learning records, assessments, and contributions

  • Request a complete data export in portable format


Correction and Updates

  • Edit your profile information at any time

  • Update your learning goals and interests

  • Correct any inaccuracies in your records


Deletion and Withdrawal

  • Delete your account and most associated data at any time

  • Withdraw from specific programs while maintaining general membership

  • Request deletion of specific content or contributions

  • Choose which newsletters to receive

  • Opt out of marketing communications while maintaining educational communications

 

Assessment Data Control

  • View all assessment data collected about you

  • Request removal from research and impact measurement (while remaining in the community)

Data Security and Retention

Data Security Via Mighty Networks

STAND Learning is hosted on Mighty Networks and all data is stored in Mighty Networks’ system.  Currently, this means all data is stored on AWS but this is subject to change by Mighty Networks and is out of the control of STAND Learning.  See Mighty Networks’ Data Security page here.

 

Security Measures

  • Platform security: Leveraging Mighty Networks' enterprise-level security infrastructure

  • Encrypted communications: All data transmission is encrypted

  • Access controls: Limited staff access on a need-to-know basis for educational purposes

  • Regular security reviews: Ongoing assessment of our data protection practices

 

Retention Periods

  • Active member data: Retained while you're an active member plus 12 months

  • Assessment data: Retained indefinitely to track long-term transformation outcomes

  • Financial records: Retained per legal requirements (typically 7 years)

  • Community contributions: You may request deletion; otherwise retained as part of community knowledge base


Data Deletion
When you delete your account:

  • Personal identifiers are removed within 30 days

  • Your community contributions may remain but are anonymized

  • Assessment data is anonymized and may be retained for research purposes

  • You can request complete deletion, though this may affect community discussions you participated in

Children and Age Requirements

STAND Learning serves adult learners aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18. If we discover we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly.


Age verification: We rely on user attestation during registration and reserve the right to request verification if we have concerns about a user's age.
